Breaking!! More than 800 killed as fiert storm leaves Haiti for Florida

Hurricane Matthew killed more than 800 people and left tens of thousands homeless in its rampage through Haiti. This occurred earlier this week before it lashed Florida on Friday with howling winds and rolled northward up the U.S. Atlantic coast. The number of deaths in Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, surged to at least 842 on Friday as information trickled in from remote areas previously cut off by the storm, according to a Reuters tally of death tolls given by officials. Matthew, potentially the first major hurricane to hit the United States head on in more than a decade, triggered mass evacuations along the coast from Florida through Georgia and into South Carolina and North Carolina. IPOB's Detained leader drags Case To ECOWAS Court

The detained self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, has taken quest for freedom to the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja. Mr Kanu is demanding the release of his personal belongings allegedly seized during his arrest and a monetary compensation of 800 million dollars for alleged violation of his liberties. He is also asking the court to compel the federal government and their agents to respect, protect and promote his human rights. Hearing in the case has been fixed for November 8, 2016. Kanu alongside his co-accused, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi are facing a six-count charge of treasonable felony, brought against them by the Nigerian government. A Federal High Court judge in Abuja had in September withdrawn from the case. Mr Kanu had filed a petition against Justice Tsoho before the National Judicial Council over alleged judicial rascality. Senators Reacts To Withdrawal Of Alleged Rule-Forgery Case

The Nigerian Senate says the rule-forgery case against its presiding officers, Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has been a distraction to the law making body. Reacting to the withdrawal of the forgery charges , the Senate further stated that the withdrawal was a confirmation of its position that the nation could not afford any sharp division between the various arms of government. In a statement by its spokesman, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, the Senate said the decision to withdraw the case and its subsequent dismissal had confirmed its earlier statement that the case was indeed an abuse of court process having been dismissed earlier by the court. He further stated that the Upper Chamber had always believed that the case was politically motivated and that the executive could not decide for the legislature the genuineness or otherwise of its standing rules.

Islamic Movement Bans in Kaduna State Nigeria Group

The Kaduna State Government has issued an Order declaring the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) as an unlawful association. A statement issued on Friday by the spokesman for the state governor, Samuel Aruwan, says the government secured an order from the State Executive Council to ban the Islamic Movement from either existing or operating in the state with immediate effect. In proscribing the group, the government invoked Section 45 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution which empowers the state Governor to take such measures and actions for the promotion and protection of public safety, public order, public morality or public health, or the rights and freedom of all persons in the State. The statement further explained that the action was to ensure that all persons and organisations were guided by lawful conduct and with due allegiance to the Nigerian state and its Constitution. Professor Adebiyi Daramola, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State and the Bursar, Emmanuel Ademola Oresegun, are being quizzed at the Iyaganku, Ibadan office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in respect to an alleged case of Abuse of Office and misappropriation of funds. The Vice Chancellor allegedly withdrew Furniture Allowance annually instead of once in 4 years as approved and was paying himself Housing Allowance while residing in the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Quarters. It is further alleged that he diverted funds from various unrelated subheads to finance other projects without the appropriate approvals.

Creazy: 32-year-old man kills mother see reasons

A 32-year old man has been arrested for murdering his mother. According to reports, 32-year-old Michael Agyare killed his mother and her teenage house help for failing to find him a woman to marry. Agyare who is unemployed, murdered his 59-year-old mother known as Madam Doris and the 18-year-old Mary Addo, a secondary school final year student who helped her out, following a brief quarrel in the house he shared with them.Prior to her death, Madam Doris was said to have worked as a records officer, at the Suhum government hospital in the eastern regional town of Suhum in Ghana. The deceased’s landlord Nana Kwadwo Dompreh, said Agyare had been involved in series of fights with his mother of his marital status, claiming that he had been putting pressure on his mother to get him a wife. Investigations are ongoing, even though Agyare is still on the run.

Recession: FG puts up two presidential jets for sale

NAN: The Federal Government has listed two jets in the Presidential fleet for immediate sale. The two aircrafts,  Falcon 7x and Hawker 4000, were advertised on page 35 of Tuesday’s Thisday Newspapers The adverts showed the performance and specifications of the jets,  which indicated that they were still in good condition. Interested buyers are to inspect the Falcon at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International, Airport Abuja while the Hawker 4000 would be inspected at Cessna Zurich Citation Service Centre, Zurich, Switzerland. With selling of the air craft, the number of planes on the presidential fleet will be reduced to nine.   President Muhammadu Buhari as part of his campaign promise pledged to sell off most of the planes on the fleet to save cost.

You can't believe what happened to the 3 survivors of the last week Umuahia Hotel Ghost Attack

UMUAHIA —THREE of the survivors of last week’s ‘invisible hands’ attack in a hotel on 44, Uyo Street, Umuahia metropolis, Abia State, have regained  consciousness but cannot recall what happened to them. Two persons were confirmed killed and four others rushed to hospital, following an attack at the 50-50 Hotel. Three of the four survivors regained consciousness and the state Police Command said they would help with information of what actually happened.

Akorede was arrested in possession of two human skulls. ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police image maker, confirmed the report on Monday, saying Akorede, an attendant at Ayepe Cemetery, was arrested at night on Sunday, October 2, at Isale Oko area of Shagamu.

Air Force gunship destroys illegal refineries in the Niger Delta

Some illegal refineries within the Niger Delta have been blown up by the Nigerian Air Force – The refineries were destroyed by an Air Force gunship The Nigerian Air force on Sunday, October 2, deployed its helicopter gunship to bomb large barges loaded with siphoned crude oil as well as illegal refinery sites in Rivers state.Vanguard reports that the bombing was part of the ongoing war on illegal bunkering and the operation of illegal refineries in several parts of the Niger Delta. Disclosing this in Abuja, Monday, Group Capt Ayodele Famuyiwa, director of Airforce public relations said, “In its concerted effort to stop illegal bunkering and criminal activities in the Niger Delta, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Sunday destroyed illegal oil refineries and barges filled with petroleum products.“The refineries and barges were sighted by NAF Diamond 42 aircraft on Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission in Bille Community of Rivers state.

Peter Obi frowns at titles in churches

The former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, has frowned at the indiscriminate award of titles on worshipers by some churches. Mr. Obi said this during the pastoral visit of the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Paulinus Ezeokafor, to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity in Onitsha on Sunday. The former governor, who was part of the visiting team, noted that the award of titles on worshippers was at variance with the essence of fellowship. According to him, it leads people to ungodliness, as churches must retain their pious orientation. Mr. Obi said that churches should not get consumed by the ways of the world, forgetting her primary essence. “Churches should aid our spiritual growth, but today, our people delight in creating one title or the other for reasons other than holiness, which appears not to be in sync with the essence of the church.
